Thanks to Maggie Wohltmann, of the Business Department at Livingston High School, for this creative and incredibly timely activity idea!

May and June are the time of year when teachers are wrapping up instructional content and beginning to roll out some enrichment activities that are real-world applicable. This could include resume writing, mock interviews, cumulative personal finance projects etc, but the most common event that teachers and students enjoy is a career day! Though schools are closed for the remainder of the year, it would be a shame to just cancel all career-related activities that help students make connections between school and the the real-world, so Maggie's idea was one that the NGPF team loved!
In this chart, teachers will find links to videos put together by working professionals from various different business-related career fields. These professionals share their wisdom starting with a day in the life as someone who works in their role, including how covid 19 may have impacted the work that they do and how they pivoted their business if so, and finally they give advice for current high school students that they wish their teenage selves would have known. Check out this example from Sadie Kurzban, the Founder of ((305)) Fitness:
We hope that these videos can help you supplement your career and business related coursework and that this can help your students get a sense for the many paths that one might take when pursuing work after high school and/or college!
