We're halfway through our summer FinCamp season, and the reviews are in from more than 700 educators who've already spent a day with us. Nearly nine in ten gave the day a perfect 10. You can still register for most of the upcoming camps. Here are four reasons you should grab a spot now, according to this summer's participants.
Educators repeatedly described the relief of not building from scratch. A recurring phrase across camps was some version of "everything I need is here."
One first-time course teacher put it perfectly:
"I am not afraid of setting up a course for the first time now, as so much of the work is done already!"
Investing is the unit teachers tell us they dread most. Our "Teach Investing with Confidence" session earned a 9.5 out of 10 for usefulness, one of the highest-rated hours of the whole day.
Here's why, in teachers' own words:
"The investing session simplified a very complicated topic. I learned more from that one session than I have from numerous investment books. I feel I can confidently teach the topic to students."
We know how summer PD can go. Many participants were surprised at how enjoyable the day was. You experience the lessons the way your students will: playing the games, moving through the activities, and engaging in discussion with peers.
"It's easy for summer trainings to be cheesy or not as effective, but the women leading the session did a fantastic job making it interactive and worth the time spent."
"One of the best PDs I have been to in a long time."
If you're the only personal finance teacher in your building, this might be your best chance all year to swap ideas with people who understand the work.
"The interaction with other people was the best part. I always learn so much from other people."
You can sign up for one of 10 more FinCamps happening this summer, from Denver to Houston to Sacramento to Indianapolis and more.
Veteran users tell us the day is just as worth it. Our new-and-experienced breakout means you're not sitting through the basics.
"Although I am a seasoned user of NGPF, I always walk away with something new or a better way to use the lessons."
