This fall, Arizona State University (ASU) is offering a new graduate course, Psychology and Technology in Personal Finance for Educators, as part of the personal finance graduate credit program for K-12 teachers. Consult the NGPF/ASU Partnership Guide NOW to ensure eligibility by July 1st when the sign up process will begin for this cohort.
In 2023, the Arizona State University W. P. Carey School of Business began a partnership with NGPF to create graduate courses for personal finance educators. Because of the success of the pilot cohorts, more than 500 educators are on track to complete either or both of the core courses making up the certificate, Investment Management and Risk Management, by the end of 2024.
The new third specialization course, Psychology and Technology in Personal Finance, will be ready for its first cohort in Fall 2024.
ASU’s Psychology and Technology in Personal Finance highlights common mistakes in personal financial decisions and studies their underlying psychological origins. The 3-credit graduate course also provides an overview of technological innovations geared toward alleviating such biased decision-making. This course will build on prior work in two foundational prerequisites: (1) NGPF Behavioral Economics Certification Course and (2) NGPF Cryptocurrency Basics Certification Course.
