This week on the Summer Series devoted to money, business and economics video shows and resources, I'm highlighting a fellow Dominican-American from NYC named John Henry. John is the host of HUSTLE a series produced and aired by VICELAND TV. People who know John recognize him as the cofounder, co-CEO of Loop, a new car insurance company that aims to make auto insurance more fair and transparent for drivers. He is also well known for his work with Harlem Capital, a venture capital firm focused on provided funding to business created by women and people of color.
Below you'll find an image that links to HUSTLE, a show that takes you into several businesses pre-covid and allows us to watch John Henry assist struggling entrepreneurs in getting their businesses to where they want them to be financially. Sadly, the show is blocked by a pay wall, however you can still watch 4 free content blocks for 30 minutes each by selecting "Free Pass." The timer starts as soon as you click, so be sure to skip ahead a few minutes and jump into the meat of the episode you most want to check out.
My favorite episodes are 1 & 5:
Episode 1: Sweating It Out
John Henry helps struggling business Harlem Cycle by working with the founder Tammeca Rochester to bring about awareness of her business throughout the larger Harlem community.
Episode 5: Trouble Uptown
John Henry rolls up his sleeves to try and help the owners of streetwear company Bronx Native, Amaurys Grullon and Roselyn Grullon, to keep their doors open.
What do you think of the series? Let us know in our educators-only online forum, FinLit Fanatics.
⟶ Check out this interview with John Henry if you're curious about his story of entrepreneurship at a very early age and for a GORGEOUS cinematic visual of his entrepreneurial story from Schwab Films, click here.
